POSITION SUMMARY:
The Radiology Manager will oversee the operations of the Radiology Department. This will include monitoring and assessing employees’ performance and behavior, creating and implementing schedules, interviewing and hiring of employees, and ensure patient quality and safety. The Radiology Manager is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of radiology equipment, researching and obtaining information on replacement equipment, and communicating with appropriate departments regarding radiologist. This position is a working manager; therefore, the manager is expected to perform the duties of a Radiological Technician when required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program is required. Associates degree is preferred.
Licensure: Current WY license or a temporary license upon hire required. ARRT (R) certification. Current Basic Life Support certification preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the medical imaging setting required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Follow federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and laws for radiology guidelines for testing, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance by department. Comply with facility policies and procedures.
Develop, implement, and administer procedures, and policies for best practices to streamline processes in radiology department.
Oversite/maintenance of the radiology chargemaster charges and prices.
Responsible for maintaining and coordinating vendor contracts.
Oversee the use of the equipment and ensure proper maintenance is being completed as required. Propose equipment upgrades and replacement when appropriate.
Assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work. Perform, analyze, and interpret quality control and quality assurance measures.
Recruits, interviews, and select high quality candidates for positions within the radiology department. Train new staff members and provide training for current staff on equipment. Responsible for evaluating, counseling, creating performance improvement plans, and disciplining staff according to facility policies and procedures.
Manage staff and direct activities by coordinating schedules and breaks, reviewing and approving bi-weekly timecards.
Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accurately to provide the clearest read for radiologists. Administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
Observes patients during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Perform patient assessment and communicate actively with healthcare team. Completes all required documentation related to patient, procedure, and exam charges.
Maintaining compliance for all modalities in preparation for surveys/accreditations. Will be the point of contact for surveyors and auditors in the Radiology department. Prepare and monitor any corrective action plans addressing findings from a survey or audit.
Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements. Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patients and staff from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
Adapts imaging methodology using approved modifications and communication with physician as needed.
Maintain a clean, orderly, safe, and professional work environment.
Attend required meetings of a manager. Communicate important information from meetings to staff to promote engagement and to ensure smooth teamwork across multiple department interactions.
Must cover on-call hours and report on-site to the facility with 20 minutes of emergency notification.
